The ‘Woppit Academy of Real Magic’, otherwise known as WARM, is the title of the second Woppit book (yet to be finished). The first emerged in the early 90s under the title of ‘Amanda and the Woppit’ – a timely tale for the child that sleeps within us all from the Woppit who is trying to awaken us.
Here’s what I wrote about it at the time:
“Woppit popped into my mind one day and refused to go away. ‘Wake up,’ he said, ‘and listen.’ And I listened. And a story wrote itself paragraph by paragraph using my words but having a life of its own. And when it wanted to end it ended and yet in a sense it has only just begun. On this very day.”
Woppit soon emerged as a powerful force in my own life – teacher, mentor, confidante, someone who brightened my day when things got tough and brought a lightness, joy and sense of play, not to mention warmth, wisdom ….. I’m suddenly realising that this is beginning to sound a lot like Jack*. And, as I realise this, I hear Woppit and Jack together in my ear saying, “And thereby hangs a tale yet to be told!”
